Creating content for your social media marketing takes up a lot of your valuable time.
And time is money, right?
So, you certainly don’t want to waste any of it.
That’s why you need to know what content your target audience is looking for.
Believe it or not doing this is surprisingly easy.
I wish I had figured out these simple methods years ago.
That’s why I want to share what I have discovered with you today.
Let’s dive in.
There are three different methods of content discovery and research I use.
#1 Questions Your Clients Ask You
I find this to be the best source of ideas for creating content. Every time someone asks you a relevant question, you store that question into a Google Sheet. You then review this Google Sheet to look for recurring questions or topics whenever you want to create new content. In fact, I came up with the idea for this short blog because someone asked me if I had any suggestions on how to create content that their audience would engage with.
Method #2 Questions People Ask in Groups/Forums
This is my next go-to method. Groups and forums are literal goldmines for content.
1. Find a Facebook Group or public forum that's relevant to your products/services.
I personally find great content on Quora.
2. Join the group and follow the forum and watch for recurring questions or just a good question you know the answer to.
3. Store every question in the same Google Sheet I mentioned above.
For example, I am using a Social Media Management group to find what people are asking about Facebook and use that to create content.
Method #3 Collecting Images
Everyone loves pictures. Not just studio shot, professional pictures. People love authentic pictures. That is why I spend 1 hour a week on Unsplash (www.unsplash.com) collecting images that look real, natural and relevant to the content I am creating for myself and my clients and save them to an image file.
That’s it! Is that easy!
After a few weeks/months, you’ll see that Google Sheet and image file will turn into a valuable resource for your content creation.
